SAFE ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES
ARE A PRIORITY
Ivanhoe works hard to protect the land
- The proper safeguard of our environment is important to our organization.
- While doing our work, we will consider the appropriate protection of humans.
- We expect and train all employees to do their best to accomplish each project's goals without causing environmental harm.
- We will use, store and dispose of products in such a manner that will provide appropriate protection to the environment and reduce the waste of materials.
- Management will develop and enforce good environment standards in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Where possible, we will recycle and promote the use of recycled products.
The safety information in this policy does not take precedence over Government OH&S Legislation. All employees should be familiar with the OH&S Act and other applicable legislation for the jurisdiction in which they are working.
Safety and the Environment
The protection of the environment is a logical extension of a company's safety program. During handling, storage, disposal and transporting of hazardous materials there is always the potential for releases into the environment and we do our best to minimize this impact.
We make great efforts to close the loop in our business practices: Ivanhoe purchases products that are less hazardous or contain recycled and refined materials, and all our equipment is properly maintained to reduce the carbon footprint we have on the environment.
Our company also takes great responsibilities for the protection of the environment by following "The Three Rs":

REDUCE
- Employ bulk purchasing to reduce the amount of excess packaging.
- Use hybrid vehicles to reduce hazardous emissions into the atmosphere.
- Carefully plan worksite footprint to maximize housekeeping and spill containment.
REUSE
- Filters are reused after on-site cleaning.
- Store used wooden pallets and have them picked up for redistribution.
- Re-introduce clean effluent into the environment for dust control on roads.
RECYCLE
- Enlist the services of local recycling providers.
- Recycle used oil, scrap metal, bricks, lumber and other materials whenever possible.
- Promote and practice the use of recycled paper products whenever possible.
